About Us

In 2012 Mike Acosta and Brittany Streufert talked about starting a 5K race to benefit the community in which they both lived. At Viera Pizza, Mike loved the support his local customers gave his business and how fast it was growing. It made him want to give back. Enter Brittany who eats pizza every Friday. She had gotten to know Mike from running local races and picking up her order each week. When he casually mentioned the 5K idea she told him to go for it, not knowing he had already designated the race director spot for her.
Despite the two not having any race management experience, the Eat My Crust 5K was born.

After six successful Eat My Crust 5K events, Mike & Brittany had given over $100,000 to the Viera High School Athletic Department, Special Olympics of Brevard County and the Early Steps program through Viera Pizza. The next step was to launch a nonprofit organization called Power of Pizza Charities or “POP” for short to further the mission of giving back to the Brevard County community. POP is now fully operational with a 501(c)3 status, a board of directors and a full schedule of fundraising events on the calendar.

POP’s goal is the same as Mike and Brittany’s original one.
Make an impact in the community. Let’s see how far we can go!

What Our Partners & Participants Have to Say

“Any professional looking for a new way to reach potential customers should talk to POP. They’re innovative and did an amazing job helping me market my business.”
Lukas Fullem, Realtor
Karr Professional Group

"I have run Eat My Crust every year and I am looking forward to running it again next year! This race has all the components of a great event and more - super course, amazing staff and volunteers, the best race medals in town, fun swag, awards and raffles, delicious food, and it supports a very worthy charity! Did I mention mascot Joey Pepperoni is there?? This is a must-do race!"
Lisa Petrillo, Runner
6x Eat My Crust Streaker

“For the past 5 years Space Coast Early Steps has had the honor of being one of the recipients of Viera Pizza’s Eat My Crust 5K.  The donations have assisted with purchasing needed equipment for the children we serve in Brevard County.  Their dedication to our children under age 3 with delays and disabilities is unmeasurable. We can’t thank them enough.”
Althea Puzio, Program Director
Space Coast Early Steps

“Power of Pizza Charities is a very generous partner for Viera High School Athletics. The Eat My Crust 5K community event in May is always a favorite with over 1,000 participants annually. With POP's help, Viera High School is able to assist the athletic department, extracurricular clubs and activities with funding that allows them to purchase needed equipment, make improvements, and receive funding that we normally would not receive. Without Eat My Crust and Power of Pizza VHS would just be making ends meet."

Viera High School

POP’s Promise

Progress and growth is important to POP. We work hard to bring a total event experience to every participant who runs our races. We give 100% in everything we do and we hold ourselves to the highest standards.
